A second access road to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail is the best candidate for an application to the New Building Canada Fund.
This from Engineering Technician Warren Proulx as the city is looking for monies to put towards the $2.3 million project.
Proulx explains the road is one of the highest priorities for 2015 and since the deadline to apply is February it works out the best.
Other projects eligible for funding included a new terminal building at the Trail Airport and the Pedestrian Pipe bridge.
Proulx says if the existing access road became compromised it would essentially close off the hospital from the public.
