Local nurse/support staff at 70% flu shot uptake

Local nurses and support staff appear to be following provincial influenza protection protocols.

They had until Monday to have the flu shot or start wearing a mask.

Jane Cusden – Acute Health Services Director at our hospitals – says the vaccination uptake locally is around 70%. And she’s happy to see nurses doing the right thing.

Health officials in the lower mainland raised concerns about some BC Nurses Union messaging that questions the effectiveness of the flu shot.

In Vancouver the nurse uptake for the vaccine is well down from last year.
