NDP Brittny Anderson re-elected in Kootenay-Central

The polls are now closed and NDP candidate Brittny Anderson has declared victory in Kootenay-Central,  securing her position as MLA for another four years. 

Anderson earned 39.45 percent of the ballot after 30-of-31 ballot boxes were counted in Saturday’s provincial election. with BC Conservative candidate Kelly Vandenberghe coming in with 32.38 percent of the vote. 

Anderson says she’s excited to get to work.

“I am very excited to work hard for my constituents and deliver results for people. I want to say thank you to everyone that supported me and I want to say a huge thank you to our massive team of volunteers that worked so hard to knock on doors, make phone calls, put signs up, repair signs and get our supporters out to vote. I am incredibly grateful and honored to be able to represent this riding for another four years.”

Polling results as of election night can be found below: 

  • Brittny Anderson – BC NDP – 8,065 (39.42%)
  • Kelly Vandenberghe – BC Conservative Party- 6,723 (31.87%) 
  • Nicole Charlwood- BC Green Party – 3,908 (18.70%)
  • Corrine Mori- Independent – 2,087(10.01%)
