New deal for BC doctors

A new five year agreement between the province and BC doctors will provide $143 million towards recruitment in remote areas.

Dr Allen Ruddiman is the co-chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues and he says there are a lot of isolated municipalities across the province that are disadvantaged when attracting talent.

He says the committee takes a look at how they can help each of those rural communities.

Ruddiman says the new agreement is good for doctors and supportive of patients.

The deal provides increases for compensation and incentives of nearly 5.5% over the term.
