The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) wants detailed regular reporting of travel expenses by executives of BC’s post-secondary institutions.
This after Freedom-of-Information requests for the 25 universities and colleges show $2.4 million in airfares, hotels and meals over a two year period.
The CTF says these expense claims have little government oversight.
It says the President of UBC spent almost a quarter million dollars just on international airfares and about $350,000 in total travel expenses over the period.
The President of Selkirk College spent around $42,000, among the smallest claimants in BC.
