Selkirk College won't charge adult upgrade fees in new year

Selkirk College will not start charging for adult upgrading courses.

The provincial government says all post-secondary institutions can start charging fees as of January.

But Selkirk President Angus Graeme says the college is all about giving access to further education in smaller communities and the free Adult Basic Education (ABE) is part of that.

Graeme wants to see if the college’s grants will be impacted by this move and if changes to financial aid will indeed help off-set fees on adult learners.

He says even if Selkirk considered charging fees that wouldn’t happen until late next year.
