Search continues for missing skier

One of the expert skiers helping in the search for a missing local man in the Whitewater area is hopeful he’ll be found.

47 year old Edward Perello went off alone early Monday morning and was reported missing Tuesday afternoon. So that’s three days and night’s he’s been out on the mountains.

Whitewater Resort GM Kirk Jensen joined search and rescue teams Wednesday in difficult early season conditions. He says while it’s been raining heavily the temperature remains above zero.

Search and Rescue are out again Thursday.

Up to 25 volunteers were on the slopes yesterday and an RCMP helicopter was deployed for an hour.

The missing skier is reported to be experienced but it’s not known how well he’s equipped for an extended stay on the mountain.
