Whitewater Community Day returns

Local skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to take advantage of discounted lift tickets at Whitewater this Friday to support a good cause.

On Friday, January 17, Whitewater Ski Resort is hosting its 9th annual Community Day, offering $25 lift tickets to locals to support and raise awareness for a local cause. Last year, the resort donated over $11,000.

This year, funds from lift ticket sales will directly support the Whitewater Ski Team, The Cube Climbing Centre, and the Nelson and Area Friends of the Family Foundation.

There will also be a food drive for the Nelson Community Food Centre. Those attending Community Day are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable items to Whitewater’s Guest Services Building.

Community Day lift tickets are only available to locals who reside within the geographic area. Proof of local address will be required.

According to Brand Director Kyle Caçador-Florence, the “local area” spans from Nakusp down to the U.S. border, over to Creston, and up to Meadow Creek.

“Anyone who’s within a reasonable drive of the hill, we try to welcome them up for Community Day.”

Tickets can only be purchased on the day of the event at Guest Services on the mountain, Snow School, the Glory Lodge, and the Hummingbird Lodge. They will not be available at the Downtown Office or online.
