Trail creates bridge committee

One of Trail’s three new council committees will focus on the contentious and extensive Pipe/Pedestrian bridge.

A group of concerned citizens forced the project to referendum in the summer and then the Silver City had to negotiate with surrounding communities on proportionate costs for the utilities aspect of the $9 million crossing.

Councillor Sandy Santori will chair the committee and says they want to make sure they prepare tenders that will get them the biggest value for their dollar.

The city hopes to put the project out for tender in February and break ground in early Spring.

Trail alone will also pay about $5 million towards the structure.
