Crews have successfully triggered avalanches on the Paulson Pass on Highway 3 in the Boundary.
Ken Lawson with Emcon says Tuesday the ministry did the controlled measures because of the weak layer from earlier in the winter that was sitting under a lot of new snow with warming temperatures in the forecast.
Unlike the Kootenay Pass Lawson says the Paulson normally needs only two controlled avalanches per season.
He says they’ll take a look again in the Spring unless there is an unusually high amount of snow.
