Warming temperatures cause natural avalanches on Kootenay Pass

Crews on Kootenay Pass are getting on top of things following the first major storm event of the season.

About 40 cm of snow fell on top of 40 cm of existing snow Sunday and Monday.

District Avalanche Technician Rob Anderson says that – along with the warming temperatures very early Tuesday – prompted a number of natural slides.

They were hoping to do some heli-bombing Wednesday so keep an eye on Drive BC online. There could be up to three hours of closures.
