A big rebound for Nelson when it comes to new residential housing units.
2014 saw $18 million in building permits issued. That’s double the $9 million value issued in 2013.
City Manager Kevin Cormack says there are 100 new units on the way with three developments forming the bulk of that.Nelson commons is the biggest one.
Cormack says it’s a sign of confidence in the economy and the local economy in particular.
He says much of the new development is infill meaning no new service infrastructure is needed.
