Don't dismantle Edgewood breakwater:rural director

A rural director on the Arrow Lake hopes BC Hydro comes up with a solution and does not remove the new breakwater the utility recently built at Edgewood.

The facility on the peninsula is being washed away and it’s a public safety risk.

Paul Peterson says without a breakwater there’s no protection from the wind and it’s not just an issue for local boaters.

Peterson says the community has long called on BC Hydro to put rip-rap rock around the south side of the peninsula and put the dock there instead.

BC Hydro says that’s not feasible.

The utility is expected to report back next month following a public open house in December.
