Waiting game continues on Castlegar airport reliability

It’s an ongoing – albeit frustrating – process when it comes to boosting reliability at the West Kootenay Regional Airport at Castlegar.

This from mayor Lawrence Chernoff as he and the rest of council heard public concerns about the lack of developments at the facility during Monday’s regular meeting.

Council pointed out at one time the city planned on funding the upgrades themselves but then Nav Canada took over saying they’d do it on their dime.

Chernoff says that’s when things slowed down.

The city wants Air Canada to provide Nav Canada with a business plan on its new Q-400 aircraft- that are equipped with technology that would allow them to land with a much lower visibility ceiling.
