Seniors programs key to Blueberry school future

It’s the inclusion of seniors programs that makes Castlegar’s Blueberry Creek Community school refreshing.

So says new resident Angela Jakobs who has written a letter of support to the City following the school’s funding request for $20,000 a year for three years.

Jakobs says society is quick to plan for families but it’s easy to forget about the large demographic of seniors.

The community facility has important seniors programs as well as daycare.

Jakobs said she would be attending Monday night’s Kootenay Columbia school district budget meeting.

The facility has asked the district to sell the building to them for a dollar – as the district doesn’t want to maintain it anymore.
