Regional airport emergency-ready: Rempel

A few minor changes are needed but overall the West Kootenay Regional Airport is prepared to respond to any large scale emergency.

This from Airport Manager and Castlegar Fire Chief Gerry Rempel after an elaborate excercise at the facility recently that involved approximately 60 people.

Rempel says it confirmed that their emergency response and airport security plans work.

Rempel says they’ll will be releasing a report to the public in the coming weeks.

He adds the City has also discussed the idea of doing a community wide emergency exercise.
