Cherbo opposes lifting downtown Nelson dog ban

Not every Nelson city councillor is in favour of the end to the dog ban in the downtown.

The idea of a leashed zone easily passed at last night’s meeting and will likely become law next month.

Robin Cherbo was the lone voice against, citing health and safety concerns.

Cherbo says unlike some current business owners, he was around over 20 years ago.

That’s when the then-business community called for the ban because the sidewalks were such a mess.

He’s hoping the transition works out but he’s stressing his concerns.
