Kootenay Lake Ferry resumes full service

The BC General Employees’ Union has reverted the job action on the Kootenay Lake Ferry to an overtime ban, allowing the ferry to operate at full capacity.

Job action imposed by the BCGEU on November 3 forced the ferry to significantly scale back operations as the union and the ferry operator, Western Pacific Marine, negotiated a new collective agreement.

However, on March 19, the BCGEU announced it was reverting the strike action to an overtime ban, effective March 20.

The BCGEU says sailings could still be cancelled if staffing shortages require overtime to crew the vessel.
