Rossland in blanket budget outreach

Calling it an “unprecedented process” the city of Rossland is reaching out to citizens as they face a plus-million-dollar budget deficit.

The popular Thoughtexchange online program will be the main source of input and responses need to be in by Sunday night.

Mayor Kathy Moore says they are seeking ideas on where tax dollars should be spent and saved in light of the need to spend more on decaying infrastructure.

Residents are asked to ponder two hypothetical tax increases of 4% and 10% and where to cut services or capital spending.

Those who don’t want to contribute by computer can fill out hard copy forms at the Rossland Legion today from 12:45 pm until 2:45 pm. Forms can also be picked up from city hall.
