Banner conceals Nelson's ugly bits

A temporary fix to a dismal sight in the Queen City.

Like many other regional communities – a banner has been used to disguise an old gas station lot.

A colorful design on a 235-foot sheet of vinyl has covered up the old Imperial Oil property on Nelson Avenue.

Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism Executive Director Diana Ducs figures it’s worth the $12,000 cost.

Local artist Nichola Lytle approached them about creating the banner.

Ten different parties supported the initiative with funding.
