Additional taxes and borrowing are not needed to fund Nelson’s ambitious Hall Street Corridor Project nor will the expense compromise other work .
This from City Manager Kevin Cormack who says delving into their reserve funds will not mean future regular paving and infrastructure work elsewhere will be sidelined.
Council approved the $4 million first phase of the Stores to Shores Hall Street project Monday night.
The city has also applied for a $4 million federal grant for a future $6 million second phase. Cormack says Nelson would have another $2 million to meet it’s one-third share of that deal.
