A popular spot in Castlegar connected to the school district ‘s Alternate Learning Program is to close to the public.
The kitchen at the Old School Cafe in the downtown produces meals for over 200 vulnerable students each day.
But it also became a restaurant.
Students facing anxiety issues at regular school started serving customers as part of their program.
However SD 20 Chair Darrel Ganzert says after several years in operation it’s clear the students are finding things tough.
Ganzert says some students were staying away.
The meals and learning program will continue at the site but it’s doors will close to the public March 13th.
