Fruitvale aware of unruly elements in hockey crowd:Mayor

The community of Fruitvale is working to address recent events at local Junior B hockey games.

Mayor Patricia Cecchini says they have been meeting with BV Recreation and representatives from the teams and KIJHL to address the issues.

A fight broke out in the stands during last Saturday’s Game 2 match between the Beaver Valley Nite Hawks and Nelson Leafs.

The incident involved home fans and Leafs players.

The RCMP says there is an assault investigation underway for a subsequent incident that night.

Police also held a meeting recently to address racial slurs being yelled from Beaver Valley fans to an opposing player during a Nite Hawks game earlier this season.
