Clearing up Salmo’s financial picture

The village of Salmo needs to learn their financial picture before they can move forward.

That’s the message from new mayor Stephen White.

Their badly delayed 2013 audit has now been done but the 2014 books are still a work in progress.

Lack of staffing resources and expertise is being blamed for Salmo falling behind on its accounting.

White says at this stage there’s nothing to suggest a forensic audit is required.

They also need a status report on their equipment and infrastructure to know how best to use and put aside taxpayer dollars.
