The rural director whose area runs adjacent to the West Arm Park is welcoming the addition of 1,200 hectares.
The ministry says the expansion to the park along Kootenay Lake is a result of a private land acquisition back in 2005.
Ramona Faust says it’s good news because of the losses suffered in the big forest fire 12 years ago.
The ministry says the land protects old growth forest, Mountain Caribou, and the creek’s headwaters.
