Stetski to run for federal NDP

The federal New Democrats will have former Cranbrook mayor Wayne Stetski as their candidate for the general election.

He’ll be the main challenger to incumbent Conservative and Sparwood-based David Wilks .

Stetski worked for many years for BC Parks and as regional manager for the Ministry of Environment.

And he says the recent addition of areas like Nelson,Kaslo and Salmo to the Kootenay-Columbia riding excites him.

He says Stephen Harper’s record on the international and environmental stage is embarrassing.

As mayor of Cranbrook Stetski focused on social and cultural issues but lost his re-election bid in November.
