Rossland swim area needed to boost summer appeal

Rossland needs to enhance its overall summer appeal.

That’s why Tourism Rossland has stepped up to engage the community about the prospect of a recreational and swimming site at Stargulch Reservoir.

Executive Director Deanne Steven has a proven track record in securing funding for initiatives that boost visitation.

A study shows it would cost about $160,000 to set up a beach at Stargulch and then about $45,000 a year to operate and maintain.

The city doesn’t have that sort of cash but Steven figures this is something the community is very much behind.
