Tick season is here

As the sun comes out so do ticks.

Interior Health is issuing public information about the need to avoid tick bites as we start to get out and about with the warmer weather.

In our region the most common of these bugs is the Wood Tick – which does not carry Lyme disease – but can carry other toxins and bacteria.

Anyone who experiences a bulls-eye rash or other symptoms should see a doctor as soon as possible.

As a general rule you should cover up when going into the bush at this time of year.

A tick should be removed slowly from human or animal skin preferably with tweezers.
