Waneta Expansion enviro projects announced

The latest conservation and restoration projects funded by the Waneta Dam Expansion partners have been announced.

Among this year’s projects will be critical habitat restoration for the large song bird known as the yellow-breasted chat.

Bat diversity and population size is also among the funding recipients along with a baseline inventory of bank swallows, efforts to protect reptiles and enhancement of milkweed.

Each year $50,000 is made available for research and other on-the-ground work.
