Castlegar happy but confused about doctor recruits

Castlegar City council is happy, but confused about Interior Heath’s announcement that two physicians have been recruited for the community.

IH told council Monday night that a pair of full time doctors will be starting in August and September.

However, mayor Lawrence Chernoff admits he has no idea if those are the same two doctors their city-hired recruiter has lined up as well.

Chernoff is surprised at the lack of communication from the two sides.

Castlegar and Areas I and J previously spent $50,000 to hire a physician recruiter as two local doctors plan to retire in the near future.
