Nelson to address worker safety gaps

The city of Nelson needs to improve its worker safety.

They’re hiring an admin assistant to review practices as there has been an increase in at-work accidents.

Here’s City Manager Kevin Cormack.

The cost the city now pays in Worksafe contributions has nearly doubled and that ultimately affects taxpayers.

Corporate safety used to be handled by the now retired Deputy Fire Chief but there have been gaps since he retired.

A few years ago a worker fell on an icy parking lot and sustained permanent brain damage.
