A powerful reminder that Nelson and area is cougar country.
This from a video posted online by the WildsafeBC Nelson branch this week of footage from a wildlife camera of a large cougar walking above the Six Mile area.
Local wildlife biologist Joanne Siderius – who resumes her work for the provincial group in May – says it’s a really good idea to keep an eye on your pets from dusk to dawn and to teach your kids about cougar safety.
Siderius says there are five wildlife cameras throughout the Nelson and surrounding areas and they’re used as educational tools.
