Canada Day pancake breakfast returns to Baker Street

The Nelson Lions Club will once again host its annual Canada Day pancake breakfast on the 500 block of Baker Street, bringing residents and visitors together to kick off the holiday.

Beginning at 8 a.m. July 1, the breakfast has become a longstanding community tradition, offering a chance for neighbours to connect before heading to Lakeside Park for the day’s celebrations. Pancakes, sausages, coffee, juice and other breakfast fare will be served.

For many in Nelson, the event is as much about community as it is about breakfast. The closed street, familiar faces and conversations over coffee have helped make the gathering a fixture of Canada Day for generations.

The pancake breakfast is one of the club’s major fundraisers, supporting community grants, student bursaries, local charities, sight and hearing programs and other Lions initiatives in Nelson and the surrounding area.

A minimum donation of $10 is suggested for adults and $5 for children. Cash and card payments will be accepted, and additional donations are welcome.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own plates, mugs and cutlery to help reduce waste.
