Castlegar to ponder joining IH “Healthy Communities”

If the City of Castlegar were to get involved with Interior Heath’s Healthy Communities Initiative it would be a win-win for everyone.

So says city councillor Deb McIntosh after they received a presentation from IH about the program.

It includes recreation and food policies, transportation, social and neighbourhood planning and enhancing walkability.

McIntosh says Castlegar is a healthy community but you can always do better in these areas.

The initiative also makes municipalities aware of provincial and federal grants that can be put towards local health programs.
