Kootenay real estate market heated up in June

Real estate sales in the Kootenay-Boundary were up last month.

According to the Association of Interior Realtors, 312 sales were recorded in the region last month, up from 267 in May. That was also a 4.7 per cent increase on June 2025.

The 547 new listings in June marked a 4.4 per cent increase compared to the same month the previous year, but that was down from May’s 611 new listings. Overall active listings in the region saw a 4.6 per cent increase compared to June 2025 with 1,891 recorded listings, which was above May’s 1,773 overall inventory.

“The Kootenay and Boundary real estate market experienced a particularly strong month for sales, outperforming many other markets across the province and exceeding activity seen in recent months,” said association president Ryan Mayne.

“Unlike many other regions, inventory also continued to grow, providing buyers with more choice while helping to support healthy market conditions.”

The benchmark price in the Kootenays, which realtors say is a better representation of value compared to the average or median price as it represents a dwelling of typical attributes, rose 1.5 per cent in the single-family housing category compared to the same month the previous year, coming in at $634,000.

Townhomes saw a 6.9 per cent decrease in benchmark pricing, coming in at $492,800. Condo prices increased 4.7 per cent in year-over-year comparison, coming in at $335,300.
