Transit freeze big hit for local expansion:rural director

BC Transit’s freeze on their operations budget is a major disappointment to rural residents expecting better service.
This from Area G Director Hans Cunningham after the announcement that there will be no funding for additional routes for the next three years.

There is no transit service in the Salmo area currently and Cunningham – along with residents – hoped the area would be included in a further expansion of regional bus trips.

The community does have a once a week Handy Dart service but it only goes to Nelson and not to regional hospital in Trail.
