Area restriction in effect for Poplar Creek area

The BC Wildfire Service has issued an area restriction around the Poplar Creek wildfire to help protect the public and emergency responders as firefighting efforts continue.

The wildfire is estimated at 53 hectares. It is located about 20 kilometres northwest of Meadow Creek.

The restriction takes effect at noon on Saturday, on Aug. 1 and remains in effect until the earlier of noon on Oct. 15, 2026, or until the order is rescinded.

The order applies to Crown land within the area bounded by Highway 31, Poplar Creek, Cascade Creek and the boundary of Goat Range Provincial Park, as shown on the accompanying map.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, the restricted area begins at the junction of Highway 31 and Poplar Creek, extends southeast along Highway 31 to Cascade Creek, follows Cascade Creek southwest to the Goat Range Provincial Park boundary, continues northwest along the park boundary to Poplar Creek and then follows Poplar Creek northeast back to the starting point.

The restriction does not apply to private property, and access to private land remains permitted.
