Jamie Ingram to run for mayor of Slocan

A former mayor of Slocan wants his old job back.

Jamie Ingram announced Sunday on Facebook that he will seek the job in this fall’s election.

“I am putting my name forward as an experienced candidate with a focus on water issues and practical implementation of future village improvements,” he said.

Ingram and his family moved to Slocan in 1991 to run the Slocan Hotel. He served as mayor from 1996-99. He has also been a commissioner on BC’s Agricultural Land Commission and chaired other groups including the Slocan Valley Community Complex Society.

“As a local business owner, a general contractor, and someone who comes from a farming background, I bring hands-on skills, practical experience, and a strong understanding of getting things done,” he said.

Ingram’s announcement comes a few days after incumbent Jessica Lunn announced she will not seek another term after nearly 12 years as mayor.
