GF council reverses housing project approval

An about-turn by the new Grand Forks city council on the proposed transitional housing project.

Councillor Colleen Ross says they’ve taken a sober second thought and will not approve a ten-year lease on the city-owned building at 72nd and 1st.

A local non-profit group had hoped to build three transitional units there above a new restore facility.

Ross says the city fully supports the group’s efforts but council wants a proper needs assessment and long term plan on transition housing.

She says that could lead to a better location and even bigger project if that’s what a study shows is needed.
