GF applies for Fed grants on key projects

The city of Grand Forks is hoping the federal government can cover two essential projects rather than having to borrow big money for them.

They’ve applied to the Strategic Priority Fund for the West Side fire protection water system and for the major infrastructure works on 22nd and 3rd streets.

The combined value is $3 million.

Manager of Development & Engineering Sasha Bird says initially they’d earmarked the 5th street water main and east side reservoir roof but ….

A Grand Forks referendum approved borrowing for the main roads and fire protection projects but the Federal grants would cover the entire costs.
