Trail generating too much household waste

Residents in Trail throw almost three times the amount of waste into the local landfill annually compared to those living in Montrose.

This from mayor Mike Martin who cites RDKB stats as one of the reasons he wants to find a solution to how much waste they’re throwing away.

Martin says the Silver City sends 170 kilos per capita every year.

The City is also looking at how waste management costs can be reduced.

The mayor and staff also expressed concerns about the rise in tipping fees – they say has increased over 37% in three years.
