Not much left to cut in SD20 admin budget

The chair of the Kootenay-Columbia school board calls the government’s proposed legislation on saving admin costs “misguided.”

Darrel Ganzert says there’s next to nothing left to cut as the province looks for about $200,000 in savings from SD 20 alone.

He says further cuts could mean increasing class sizes in high school, losing electives, reducing administrative leadership or charging parents for bussing.

The government says it may force school boards to work together to find savings but Ganzert says that’s already happening in our region.
