NPD sees calls regarding transient population increase

The Nelson Police Department says they’re dealing with a significant increase in calls asking for individuals to be moved on from private property.

Sgt Dino Falcone says the warmer weather brings about a more transient population.

Meanwhile Nelson police have also issued a warning about the consumption of alcohol and drugs downtown.

Falcone says they’ve received many calls on this and drinking in public can lead to a $230 fine and
public intoxication carries a $115 fine.

Falcone says anyone causing a threat to themselves or others will be put in the cells.
