RDCK ratifies interim Nelson rec deal

There will be no tax increases after all surrounding the operations at the Nelson and district rec complex.

This after the Regional District of Central Kootenay approved an interim compromise deal in the ongoing squabble over a shared funding model between Nelson and areas E and F.

Here’s chief administrator Stuart Horn.

Nelson initially withdrew a $184,000 contribution in an effort to prompt talks with its neighbours on a more equitable funding model.

But that would have seen taxes in all three jurisdictions go up .

The regional district has now approved an interim Nelson offer that would see the funds taken away again only if a review on a new model is not done by late next year.
