Castlegar brush fire extinguished

The Castlegar fire department made short work of a brush fire in the 3000 block of 1st Ave. yesterday.

Chief Gerry Rempel says a tree fell on a power line.

Rempel says wet conditions slowed the fire’s spread.

It happened in someone’s backyard but didn’t threaten the house.
