Waneta expansion project now online

The Waneta expansion project near Trail is now online and generating power.

Columbia Basin Trust CEO Neil Muth says it’s a very exciting time as the $900 million, 335-megawatt expansion is up and running.

The project employed 1,400 people with 70 per cent of the workforce coming from within 100 km of the expansion.

It will power roughly 60,000 homes a year through renewable energy.
