Faust: no appetite to increase pool reno budget

The chair of the regional recreation commission is disappointed renovations to the Nelson and District Aquatic Centre aren’t going ahead as planned.

Ramona Faust is speaking following news the RDCK rejected both bids for the work as they came in more than $1 million over budget.

Faust says the survey assured them they were at least 80 per cent accurate on the amount they’re borrowing for the upgrades.

The RDCK approved a $4.9 million budget for the work and Faust says there is no appetite to increase that.

The facility’s expected eight-month closure starting May 1 has been postponed.
