Castlegar budgets first payment for new fire truck

The City of Castlegar has put a down payment on a new fire truck.

Councillor Sue Heaton-Sherstobitoff says one of the department’s vehicles is nearing the end of its 30 year insurable license so they are being proactive.

Heaton-Sherstobitoff says it takes an entire year for a fire engine to be built.

She encourages residents to come to the public budget meeting April 21.

Castlegar homeowners are facing up to a $56 tax increase.
