Nelson city council and the police board will meet tomorrow to hash out their differences.
The board appealed to the province over the city’s refusal to accept the police department’s funding request.
Council balked at providing enough money to hire two more officers.
But Mayor Deb Kozak — who also chairs the police board — is optimistic they can find common ground.

Kozak says it’s the first time in almost a decade the two groups will meet face-to-face.
An independent facilitator will run the closed session.
