The Columbia Basin is finally getting improved support for sports and physical activity.
The Columbia Basin Trust and ViaSport are teaming up to provide $800,000 and $300,000 respectively to help operate the newly formed Pacific Sport Columbia Basin Society.
Director Kim Palfenier in Nelson says the Pacific Sport network has existed across the province for at least the past 20 years.
Palfenier explains the money will pay for the delivery of programs and services for athletes and promoting healthy living by encouraging participation.
